Accomplished published writers in the English department offer courses in creative writing, screenwriting, advanced creative writing in fiction and in poetry, playwriting, environmental writing, creative nonfiction, humor writing, and new media. A literary magazine, open mics, readings, writing competitions, a writing marathon, and meetings with visiting writers also help student writers develop their creativity.
